Article FRAGMENTS: Remembering the Troubles in Stitch, Sound and Word

I was invited to write this article based around the work I am doing for my PhD which has as its theme an exploration of the relationship between stitch, sound and word through the prism of my experiences of living and working in Belfast at the height of the ‘Troubles’. The article, published in September 2020, is on the Writing the ‘Troubles’ blog set up by members of Edinburgh University. This blog is intended as a space where academics of all disciplines and others reflect critically on writing about this sensitive subject of the recent conflict in Northern Ireland. People are invited to share ideas, experiment with new perspectives and methodologies, and to trial new projects in a relaxed environment conducive to discussion and this will hopefully enhance understanding of this complicated history.
